Max Bloom's Cafe Noir is the kind of coffee spot that Fullerton locals settle into as part of their daily rhythm — especially those who appreciate a casual, slightly vintage vibe wrapped in community energy. This isn’t just a place to grab a quick cup; it’s where early risers organize their day while enjoying one of the solid lattes served alongside some friendly four-legged greetings on the patio. The cafe’s canine-friendly attitude, with occasional treats served outside, makes it a reliable stop for dog owners looking for that morning ritual with their pets.

The interior leans into a noir-inspired aesthetic, decorated with posters, books, and apparel that capture a mid-century mystery mood. It’s a space that works well for people who want something atmospheric without being overly curated — a background that feels alive with stories but still invites casual hangouts and conversations. The presence of local art and support for musicians, comedians, and poets during frequent open mic nights gives the place a dynamic edge after hours, transforming it from a daytime coffee stop into an incubator for creative expression.

Community-minded and approachable, the cafe’s owner and staff have a relaxed, respectful demeanor that encourages regulars to linger — whether they’re working, socializing, or catching an evening show. Prices are reasonable, with sandwiches and drinks fitting a purposeful, everyday budget. Credit cards are accepted now, easing the usual hassle for those who might have avoided cash-only spots in the past.

The outdoor seating catches the morning light nicely and offers a welcoming spot to enjoy your coffee while soaking in some fresh air, making early hours particularly pleasant. Musicians and those involved in the local arts scene will find Max Bloom’s a natural home base, thanks to its steady stream of low-key events and a vibe that feels more like a neighborhood clubhouse than a conventional cafe.

Who will enjoy Max Bloom’s? Morning planners, dog owners, lovers of vintage pop culture atmospheres, and anyone looking to combine good coffee with a dose of local art and entertainment. It functions well as both a daytime sanctuary and a gathering place for creative energy once the sun goes down.

Max Bloom's is a great place to plan your day. The early morning is a great time to sit and have my latte and plan my day. Of course, Sara and Jack (my companion dogs) love to greet everyone as they come to Max's. They also love their early morning treat of scrambled eggs served by Baxter or Kevin on the patio in front. I have been coming here for over 4 years and we will continue, it's like we are visiting family. The evening time at Max's offers many different and eclectic venues of entertainment. Each time I come I have enjoyed the many different people that visit as well as the entertainment. Please come and spend some time and you too will become a regular at Max Bloom's. Hope to see you and please stop and say 'Hi'.

Really cool place, love the decorations. The owner, Kevin, is really cool, and allows people and our advisor Jerry Garvin to take over with vocal lessons ($5 per person). Drinks are good. :) Satisfactory

This is a good place. There is a comedy open mic here on Friday nights to support up and comers. Kevin, the guy behind the counter, is pretty chill and respectful. Prices are not that bad, either; it's about 4.50 for a sandwich. The atmosphere is unique with the noir posters, books, clothing, and other paraphernalia. Check it out.

Wonderful coffee house that is a strong supporter of the local art and music scene. Great coffee, excellent ambiance for people who like vintage decor, and nightly events that showcase developing musicians and comedians. Further, Max Bloom's is no longer cash only and now accepts credit cards.

Great quaint cafe with a noir feel. They have daily events ranging from open mic, comedy, movies, swing dance lessons, and they participate in art walk. The food is tasty and the pomegranate passion tea is so yummy iced or hot. Enjoy!

This place is "CASH ONLY" so make sure not to embarrass yourself after already placing an order. Why in this day and age are places still "CASH ONLY" beats me. I wonder how much business you are losing Mr. Bloom. I don't carry cash that often and as a customer I hate to be inconvenienced by having to stop by the bank before I go somewhere or by having to pay an extra $5 just to get some money out of an ATM. The Decor was awesome. I had been spying this place out for a couple of weeks after stumbling across them on the net. A 1940's cafe in the middle of Fullerton that is cool. Not excepting credit/debit card in the year 2013 not cool. The menu sound like the food would be very tasty. I was so excited to come here for the first time to try out the famous coffee, breakfast sandwich, and grilled cheese, but I never got to taste any food. I also had high hopes to participate in their open mic, but now I have been turned off by the whole "cash only" thing. The service was great when I ordered, the gentleman who help me was very kind, but too bad I had to cancel my order due to not having any cash.
